Top 7 Circular Loom Machines for PP Woven Bags: Specs Compared

Seven of our circular loom machines for PP woven bags ranked by width range, rated speed and versatility, with lay-flat width, r/min, output and power for each.

This list ranks seven of our circular loom machines for PP woven bags by one criterion: the lay-flat width range a loom covers, multiplied by its rated speed, multiplied by how many bag types it can weave. The list is for plant owners and purchasing engineers sizing a new line or adding looms to an existing one. Our recommendation in short: a sack plant on virgin PP should buy the suspension four-shuttle loom (No. 1); a plant weaving recycled tape that wants low running costs should buy the little-cam four-shuttle loom (No. 2); wide fabric calls for a six-shuttle loom, the suspension model (No. 3) up to 1050 mm or the little-cam model (No. 4) up to 1500 mm; and FIBC, geofabric or tarpaulin can only be woven on the big-sized loom (No. 6). Every figure below is taken from our catalogue and product pages.

Key definitions

  • Shuttle: the carrier that takes the weft tape around the weaving ring; four- and six-shuttle looms run four or six at once.
  • Lay-flat width (folding width): the flattened width of the woven tube, and therefore the range of bag widths a loom can make.
  • Maximum warp count: the most warp tapes the loom can carry; it fixes the finest weave at a given width.
  • Rated speed (r/min): the maximum revolutions per minute of the shuttles around the ring; catalogue outputs are quoted at 40 picks per 100 mm.
  • Suspension loom: a loom whose shuttles are carried by a suspension device, so the flat yarn is not pressed by the shuttle wheels; little-cam loom: a loom driven by small cams and a swing-arm rolling transmission that needs no lubricant.
  • Liner-inserting (hollow-shaft) loom: a loom whose main shaft is hollow so a film liner can be fed through it and rewound inside the tube.

Comparison table

Outputs are at 40 picks per 100 mm unless stated; where a product page holds several sizes, the width, speed, output and power columns give the span across those sizes and the model numbers are listed. The liner-inserting row gives the figures printed on that product page.

1. Latest Suspension Four Shuttle Circular Loom

The suspension four-shuttle circular loom is our fastest loom and the one we recommend for most new sack plants. It was developed in 2017, went into mass production in early 2018, and carries more than ten invention and utility-model patents. A suspension device carries the shuttles, so the flat yarn is not pressed or damaged by the shuttle wheels, which preserves the transparency, brightness and strength of the fabric. YF-XT-750/4X weaves 300–750 mm at up to 250 r/min on new material and 200 r/min on recycled material, giving 2.0–2.4 m/min from a 2.2 kW direct-drive servo motor without encoder and 2.7 kW total. YF-XT-1000/4X extends the width to 450–1000 mm at 220 r/min. A touch screen adjusts speed and weft density without stopping, records output permanently, and can be networked to the office computer. Buy it for standard woven sacks on virgin PP where speed matters most.

2. Intelligent Micro-computer Controlled Little Cam Four-shuttle Circular Loom

The little-cam four-shuttle circular loom ranks second because it covers the widest range of any four-shuttle loom we make: four sizes from YF-XT-750/4 (A) at 300–750 mm to YF-XT-1400/4(A) at 800–1300 mm, with rated speeds from 180 r/min down to 125 r/min and outputs from 1.4–1.8 m/min down to 0.9–1.25 m/min. The swing-arm, oil-free little-cam drive was developed by our company in 2008 (patent ZL200820166333.1); it runs on rolling transmission without lubricant, runs at no more than 80 dB(A), and can weave low-strength yarn made from 100 percent regenerated plastic. The dust cover on the swing lever (patent ZL201310737523.X) more than doubles its service life. Main motor power is 2.2 kW (4 kW on the 1400 size) and the touch-screen control system is optional. Choose it for recycled-material plants, for bag widths up to 1300 mm on four shuttles, and where low running cost and simple maintenance come first.

3. Latest Suspension Six Shuttle Circular Loom

The suspension six-shuttle circular loom shares the suspension structure, direct-drive motor, Bluetooth weft-break detection and touch-screen control of the four-shuttle machine, but carries six shuttles so that each revolution lays more weft. YF-XT-850/6X1 weaves 400–850 mm at 180 r/min for 2.2–2.6 m/min, the highest output figure in our catalogue at 40 picks per 100 mm; YF-XT-1050/6X2 weaves 750–1050 mm at 160 r/min for 2.0–2.3 m/min. Main motor is 3 kW and total power 3.5 kW, with weights of 2200 and 2300 kg. It ranks below the four-shuttle machines because its width range is narrower and its rated speed lower, but it is the right choice when you want the most metres per loom or when bag widths of 850 to 1050 mm dominate. Like all suspension looms it can be built with a hollow shaft for liner-inserting.

4. Intelligent Micro-computer Controlled Little Cam Six-shuttle Circular Loom

The little-cam six-shuttle circular loom is the widest of our standard looms. Three sizes cover 300–1500 mm: YF-XT-850/6 (A) at 300–850 mm and 160 r/min (1.8–2.4 m/min, 3.5 kW total, 2200 kg), YF-XT-1500/6(1) at 1000–1400 mm and 120 r/min (1.1–1.7 m/min), and YF-XT-1600/6(2) at 1100–1500 mm and 110 r/min (1.0–1.6 m/min), the last two with a 4 kW main motor, 4.5 kW total and up to 1248 warp tapes. It uses the same frequency-controlled, oil-free little-cam drive as No. 2, with automatic stop on warp break, weft break and weft end. The "A" suffix means a three-part heddle belt. Buy it for fabric above one metre lay-flat width and wherever a six-shuttle weave is wanted with the oil-free little-cam drive.

5. Little Cam Four-shuttle Circular loom with Liner-inserting

The little-cam four-shuttle liner-inserting loom is the hollow-shaft version of the 750 mm little-cam loom. The double-layer coextruded film is fed through the vacant main shaft and rewound together with the fabric, so the tube leaves the loom with its liner already inside and can be laminated on a reverse lamination machine. The resulting laminated fabric is moisture-proof, even in appearance and stacks well. Its product page lists 350–750 mm lay-flat width, 640/768 warp tapes, 140–180 r/min, 1.4–1.8 m/min at 40 picks per 100 mm, 1.5/2.2 kW main motor and 2/2.7 kW gross power, at 1950 kg; a six-shuttle liner-inserting version is listed with the same figures. It ranks fifth because it is a single-width specialist, but it is the loom to choose for fertilizer, chemical, animal-feed and sugar bags that need a liner laminated inside.

6. Big-sized Circular Loom for Tarpaulin and Container Bag

The big-sized circular loom is the only machine in the family that weaves above 1500 mm. Both sizes cover 1400–2100 mm lay-flat width with up to 2400 warp tapes at 35–70 r/min: the six-shuttle YF-YZJ-6/2100 produces 30–60 m/h at 40 wefts per 100 mm and is used for FIBC bags and woven geofabric, while the eight-shuttle YF-YZJ-8/2100 produces 40–80 m/h and makes tarpaulin for rain and sun protection. Gross motor power is 10/15 kW, weight 7000 kg, and the installed footprint is 17370×3535×4000 mm. It has frequency-conversion stepless speed regulation, warp and weft break detection, warp and weft end monitoring and an automatic meter counter. It sits at sixth because it is slow and specialised, but for a container-bag or tarpaulin line there is no substitute.

7. High-speed Circular Loom for Mesh Bag

The high-speed circular loom for mesh bag uses plastic monofilament or tape as warp and tape only as weft to weave open-mesh fabric, which is cut and sewn into packing bags for vegetables and fruit. Model S-WYJ-4/750 has four shuttles, weaves 300–750 mm lay-flat width with up to 512 warps, runs at 60–130 r/min and produces 60–180 m/h at a weft density of 10–24 picks per 100 mm. Gross motor power is 2.7 kW, weight 1900 kg, and it installs in 7500×2400×2730 mm. It ranks last on our criterion because it weaves one product type in one width class, but a produce-bag plant needs exactly this machine, and its power draw is the same 2.7 kW as a standard 750 mm four-shuttle loom.

How to choose

  1. Start from the bag. Standard sacks, choose from Nos. 1 to 4; bags with an inner liner, No. 5, a hollow-shaft suspension loom, or a liner-inserting cutting and sewing machine downstream; FIBC, geofabric or tarpaulin, No. 6; produce mesh bags, No. 7.
  2. Fix the width range. Take the loom whose lay-flat range covers your widest and narrowest bag with margin: Nos. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 all start at 300 or 350 mm and cover 750 mm; the suspension looms reach 1000–1050 mm, the little-cam looms 1300–1500 mm, and the big-sized loom covers 1400–2100 mm.
  3. Match speed to your tape. Virgin PP from an extrusion line in the tape-line range: plan with the catalogue maximum, 250 r/min on the suspension four-shuttle loom. Recycled or heavily filled tape: plan with 200 r/min on the suspension loom or choose the little-cam loom, which can weave low-strength yarn made from 100 percent regenerated plastic.
  4. Count looms from daily output. Divide the fabric metres you need per hour by the loom's m/min × 60 (or by its m/h figure for the big-sized and mesh looms), then allow a margin for stoppages.
  5. Check the power budget. Four-shuttle looms up to 1000 mm draw 2.7 kW total, six-shuttle looms to 1050 mm draw 3.5 kW, the YF-XT-1400, -1500 and -1600 little-cam sizes draw 4.5 kW and the big-sized loom 10/15 kW; multiply by the loom count before sizing the transformer.
  6. Decide on liner-inserting before you order. The hollow shaft is a build option on both the little-cam and the suspension loom.

Send your bag specification through the enquiry form and we will help you work out the loom count and power budget. For the design differences behind this ranking see our circular loom buyer's guide on four versus six shuttles and suspension versus little-cam, and for the machines upstream and downstream of the loom see the PP woven bag machine guide to every machine in a production line.

Frequently asked questions

Which circular loom machine gives the highest output per machine?
At 40 picks per 100 mm the suspension six-shuttle loom YF-XT-850/6X1 is rated 2.2–2.6 m/min at 180 r/min, the highest m/min figure in our catalogue at that weft density. The suspension four-shuttle YF-XT-750/4X follows at 2.0–2.4 m/min, but it reaches that with a 250 r/min rating and a 2.7 kW total power, against 3.5 kW for the six-shuttle machine.
What lay-flat widths do Yanfeng Group circular looms cover?
From 300 mm to 2100 mm. The little-cam four-shuttle loom covers 300–1300 mm over four sizes, the little-cam six-shuttle loom reaches 1500 mm, the suspension looms cover 300–1050 mm, and the big-sized loom for container bags and tarpaulin weaves 1400–2100 mm with up to 2400 warp tapes.
Can a circular loom run on 100 percent recycled PP tape?
Yes. The little-cam loom can weave low-strength yarn made from 100 percent regenerated plastic. The suspension four-shuttle loom is rated 200 r/min on recycled material and 250 r/min on new material, and its patented dust-proof swing lever lasts more than twice as long as an ordinary one when weaving recycled or heavily filled material.
How much power does a circular loom for woven bags use?
A four-shuttle loom in the 750 to 1000 mm class has a 2.2 kW main motor and 2.7 kW total power, whether suspension or little-cam. Six-shuttle looms in the 850 to 1050 mm class draw 3.5 kW total; the little-cam YF-XT-1400/4(A), YF-XT-1500/6(1) and YF-XT-1600/6(2), which weave 800 to 1500 mm, draw 4.5 kW; the big-sized 2100 mm loom is listed at 10/15 kW gross motor power.
Do I need a special loom to make woven bags with an inner liner?
Not necessarily. A hollow-shaft liner-inserting loom feeds double-layer coextruded film through its vacant main shaft and rewinds it with the fabric, so the tube can then be laminated on a reverse lamination machine; our little-cam liner-inserting loom weaves 350–750 mm at 140–180 r/min, and the suspension looms can also be built with a hollow shaft. Alternatively, the automatic cutting and sewing machine with liner inserting inserts PE film into the bag automatically at the bag-making stage.
